Wadsworth High School experienced a bomb threat at 1:45 p.m. on March 2, 2026.
All WHS students were asked by the principal, Dr. Vincent Suber, over the intercom to evacuate the building, with two groups of students and staff going to both Wadsworth Intermediate School and Wadsworth Middle School.
“I was coming back from the bathroom, and the announcement was going off,” said Emali Behrns, a senior at WHS.
All students and teachers were moved into the WIS and WMS gyms. It took some time before Steve Moore, the assistant superintendent for Wadworth City Schools, came out to address the crowd at 2:15 p.m.
“We are searching the building to make sure that nothing is there,” Moore said to the students at WIS. “This is going to take a bit of time.”
The school would have the buses arrive early, and any students who rode the buses home could leave first. However, students were still not allowed to enter the high school to grab their belongings, meaning that anyone with car keys in the building was unable to leave.
“I know that you could sit here for hours if need be,” Moore said to the people in the gym.

After the building was cleared by the Wadsworth Police Department, students were allowed to get their belongings between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.
Suber would later release a statement via Email to all students and parents, which confirmed that there was never any bomb, and that a Wadsworth student was behind the threats.
“At no point or time was there ever a bomb in the building, nor did the student have access to create a bomb,” Suber said.
The student responsible for the threats was later detained by the Wadsworth Police Department following the investigation conducted by detectives.
“The individual arrested last night will face both criminal charges and school disciplinary action under our Student Code of Conduct,” Suber said.
