Wadsworth held their annual college scholarship ceremonial event for the graduating Class of 2026 on May 14. The ceremony took place at Wadsworth High School, starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m.
Every year, this event shines light on people’s friends and loved ones who have passed. Giving speeches of what the loved ones have done for the Wadsworth community. Scholarships are written in their name, then given out to students. With remembrance as one aspect, the other part of the ceremony focused on the graduating class of 2026. With the gifting of scholarships and speeches, recognition and praise were given to students. Much of the ceremony highlighted each student’s hard work during their school years and what they plan to do in the future.
“It brings everyone together, as we’re all graduating, and it sets us off on the right track in life,” said Edward Gale, a senior at Wadsworth High School.
During the two-hour ceremony, students were called up to take an envelope; inside was their scholarship. Wadsworth’s local scholarships ranged from five hundred dollars to two thousand dollars, while other scholarships held much higher amounts of money.
“Any amount of money is really helpful for college, especially when it’s so expensive,” said Riley Gibson, a senior at Wadsworth High School who is majoring in sociology.
