As recently as Feb. 12, 2026, Trump had announced that he was going to cancel the 2009 endangerment finding. This found that climate change endangers the environment and human health by showing six different greenhouse gases that are emitted through the burning of fossil fuels, according to the New York Times. His administration is rescinding the finding, meaning it will be legally terminated, and important knowledge will be hidden from American citizens.
The data removal means the federal government can no longer enforce any pollution laws. The Environmental Protection Agency, or, the EPA, has decided that climate change is no longer a threat to American health. This means the laws regarding air pollution will no longer be enforced.
Trump and his administration shove climate change, along with other environmental issues, under the rug, ignoring all information that proves that global warming not only exists, but also harms the environment, human and animal health. He calls it a “hoax” and a “scam,” while slowly deleting the research that proves his accusations to be false.

Wadsworth High Schools, WHS, Advanced Placement biology teacher, Shelly Rohrer, believes that it is not about believing in climate change, but about accepting or denying that it is affecting the world.
“I think that if we don’t believe [climate change] is true, and we continue to deny what we see right in front of us it’s just going to get worse, and there’s going to be a point in time where it’s going to be too late,” Rohrer said.
Aaron Austin, an honors physical science teacher in Wadsworth, agrees that denying climate change is irresponsible and that it should be acknowledged.
“I think it would be foolish to say that climates don’t change,” Austin said. “I mean, we have plenty of evidence of climate change. Looking at causation suddenly becomes a lot tougher. To analyze exactly what the causes are. I think it would be entirely naive to say that humans have no impact on the climate.”
Trump has said that any predictions of climate change were “made by stupid people” and were “made… often for bad reasons” during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 23, 2025. He preaches choosing the safest and cheapest plan for America’s economy. However, he chooses coal over wind and solar energy, even though coal has been proven not only to be more harmful to the environment and human health, but also less cost-effective.
He believes that wind and solar energy are a “joke” and “pathetic” and that they are less effective and less affordable. He also made these claims during the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 23, 2025.

Despite these claims, multiple studies by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory show that solar power is the most efficient and least expensive source of energy in many regions, while simultaneously being better for the environment than coal because it is a renewable source.
On the outside, he gloats about choosing the best option for American citizens, while behind closed doors, he makes decisions that are more harmful to the people.
Studies by Cornell Chronicle show that climate change exists, that humans play a huge role and that it is affecting the state of the earth and negatively impacting human health. The Earth’s average surface temperature has increased by two degrees Fahrenheit over the past 100 years. The increase is much faster than any naturally occurring climate shifts, proving that human activity is the main driver of the rapidly increasing climate.
The White House failed to publish any information about Trump’s announcement to cut scientific research that proves that the effects of climate change harm both the environment and human health.
Although his announcement was not recorded on the official White House site, there were other statements during separate meetings made by Trump that were published on the same day as his announcement.
The Environmental Data & Governance Initiative monitored over 4,000 federal environmental web pages, and found that changes made to the websites have significantly increased from Trump’s first term to his second.
Although they are currently looking at only 20% of the web pages they monitored during Trump’s first term, they found that there were 70% more changes within President Trump’s first 100 days in office in 2025 than in his first 100 days in 2017.
The changes the current Trump administration has made compared to his first term are much bolder. Information about environmental racism has been and will continue to be universally erased from federal websites. Environmental racism is the disproportionate exposure of toxic waste and pollution to communities of color.
The administration is deleting scientific data and research from federal websites simply because what they state does not align with their arguments.
There needs to be laws that are more strictly enforced to restrict all administrations from deleting any information from federal websites. Americans should know what is going on in the world, and none of it should be hidden, even if it opposes the current president’s views and morals. Just because Trump does not care about the climate does not mean that everyone else has to ignore its current problems like he has. The First Amendment states that U.S. citizens have the right to speech, assembly, petition, religion and press.
Throughout Obama’s presidency, he stressed his concern for improving the state of the world, reducing climate change and global warming in order to give future generations a cleaner, healthier planet to live on. Trump preaches improving the world for future generations by strengthening the economy and promoting “American energy dominance.” So why do his actions not match up to his words?
Although there are many national issues the government should be concerned with, climate change should still be something they address rather than dismissing and denying its existence. The government should not have the power to delete evidence of climate change being harmful.
Deleting research only scams Americans by denying them access to the whole truth about what is happening in the world. Because some people do not do their own research, they follow what their parents believe or what has influenced them. The people who influence them may be uneducated on a specific topic. This cycle will continue because there will be nothing left to educate future generations with if the federal government continues to delete more scientific research and data.
