The Wadsworth Rock Band Club performed in downtown Wadsworth at the gazebo located in the middle of the square. They performed during First Friday on May 1, 2026, from 6 p.m. to around 8:30 p.m.
They began practicing for Rock Band with a small group starting in September, usually on Thursdays and Fridays, and sometimes on weekends. The band was introduced by senior Natalie Lyren, its lead singer. The band had five members who performed: Natalie Lyren, Gavin Baird, Eli Shore, Will Beres, and Gwen Sheldon. They range from freshmen to seniors.
For their performance, they arrived downtown an hour early and started warming up. Which consisted of them doing sound checks and setting up the drum kit.
They performed a total of 10 cover songs, some which included “Dead!” by My Chemical Romance”, “Sound of Madness” by Shinedown, and “Monster” by Skillet. The event was free and drew many people who wandered over to listen to a song or two.
The Wadsworth Rock Band hopes to continue for the ongoing years.
“We plan on keeping Rock Band going for as long as we can,” Gavin Baird said, a freshman bass guitarist in the band.
Both Lyren and Sheldon graduate this year, but the other band members hope to keep the club going and will be looking for new band members to join them.
“Performing-wise, we should probably keep it to a minimum, in the club itself, just for fun, like eight people,” said Eli Shore, the drummer in the band.
This past year, they started with around 10 people, and it gradually decreased to five.
In the future they hope to perform again in Downtown Wadsworth.
“Our biggest goal would be to play at Rocket Mortgage Field house as a band,” Baird said. “I wanted to be in as many band affiliated things as possible, because it could be something that would contribute to college.”
