Wadsworth High School’s 2026 graduation ceremony was held in the gymnasium this past Sunday to honor and celebrate the graduating seniors as they take their next step in life.
The ceremony began at 2 p.m. with the senior class president, Meredith Hire, giving a speech to her peers. She was followed by three more speakers, each representing a different aspect of the school’s programs. Cami Ross spoke on academics, Kendall Randolph spoke on the arts, and Hailey Otradovec spoke on athletics.
“All of the speakers did amazing, and I think the students and staff did a great job all together,” said Larkin Tackett, a 2026 WHS graduate. “I’m just so proud of my class and so grateful for all of the help that got us here.”
Principal Dr. Vincent Suber then gave a speech, congratulating the students for their achievements. He highlighted the cum laude, summa cum laude and magna cum laude students as well as the class’s athletic accolades from the past four years.
After the proceedings and the singing of the Alma Mater, they announced the members of the graduating class, and the students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
After accepting their diplomas, students went into the cafeteria to throw their caps, which is a tradition at many graduations.
“The ceremony was very nice, I enjoyed throwing my cap in the cafeteria at the end,” Landry Macko, a WHS graduate, said. “It made me feel accomplished and excited to move on.”
Despite the past few years of graduations taking place outdoors at Art Wright Stadium, due to weather constraints, it had to be held indoors this year as a last-minute solution. Even with the change of plans, the gym was still completely packed full with family and friends supporting the senior class.
