Tom Fisher has been written in as the newest Member of the School Board of Education for Wadsworth.

Fisher is a lifelong Wadsworth resident who graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1995 and then joined the military.Once he had finished serving his time in the military, he became a real estate agent in Wadsworth.

Fisher is also involved with the Freemasons, where they raise a significant amount of money for the Special Olympics.

Fisher is the father of six children, all of whom are students at Wadsworth City Schools; three of them have already graduated from Wadsworth High School.

Fisher was initially going to run for township trustee, but he did not plan on joining the school board; however, after hearing that a candidate had an invalid signature, he decided to put his name forward.

“The guy I was told was running for the school board did not have valid signatures, so when I heard the news, I said what the heck and went down there to put my name in as a write-in candidate,” Fisher said.

A goal that Tom Fisher, as a school board member, has is to increase the safety of schools. Fisher is already in talks with law enforcement officials on how they can make the schools safer.

“My goal is to take what’s happening here and make it better. Safety is a big concern of mine, so I have already reached out to law enforcement friends to see what we can do to make the school better,” said Fisher.

Ben Fisher, one of Tom Fisher’s kids and a Junior at Wadsworth High School, believes his dad is a good fit to be a School Board member.

“My dad is a very bright-minded guy, I think my dad is a good leader because he is intelligent and he has the best intentions for the School”, Ben Fisher said. “I think he has traits like honesty, kindness, courage, and a lot of responsibility in a position in which a lot of responsibility is needed.”

Tom Fisher has yet to begin his job as a school board member, but once the new year arrives, he will officially become the newest member of the school board.
