The Grizzlies Abroad Program will embark on its fifth trip since 2016 over the spring break of the 2026-2027 school year to London, Paris, Zurich, Lucerne, Bavaria and Munich.
Beginning on March 26, the students will fly to London and stay in the city for two to three days. In England, the group will see famous architectural monuments such as Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, an Anglican church that has been the site of numerous royal coronations, weddings, and burials.
After the time in London, a high-speed train through the English Channel will take the group to Paris, where they will spend a couple of days. They will visit historical monuments and attractions in Paris like the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triomphe.
“It really brings the learning to life,” said Andrea Kline, a staff member who has been going on the Grizzlies Abroad trips since 2016, as well as the head of the language department. “For the French students, being able to use the language and be immersed in it for a few days is an incredible experience.”
In Switzerland, where the group will also arrive by high-speed train, they will explore the Swiss Alps and see historically significant churches throughout the time spent in Zurich and Lucerne. From Switzerland, the group will travel to Munich, Germany. They will visit the Rathaus-Glockenspiel in Germany, a large mechanical clock famous for recreating scenes from Munich’s history at 11 AM and 12 PM. The students will also visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, the first Nazi concentration camp, which has now been converted into an exhibition where the cell blocks have been reconstructed to tell the stories of the prison camp’s survivors.
“Everyone should consider going abroad because it’s just eye-opening, to be able to see different cultures in person, to experience the culture yourself, to see the places, especially some of these places that maybe you’ve studied in your history classes,” Kline said. The excursions, airfare, transportation, hotels, and meals, excluding lunch, are included in the trip’s price, which is currently set at $4279. Students and their families also have the option of a 15-month payment plan to make sure that as many students as possible have the opportunity to travel abroad.
“The trip was well organized because they had planned everything over a year in advance and effectively communicated if plans would change,” said Natalie Klaehn, a sophomore who went on the 2025 Grizzlies Abroad trip to Greece. The trip is in high demand with students; a bus was filled only 24 hours after the informational meeting on October 16. A bus can take 40 students, and a waitlist is already forming for any of the students who may drop out or have to cancel.
“It was beautiful seeing different sites and how different the world is from where we live,” said Klaehn. “This is an experience I would recommend for everyone, and it is something I will not forget.”
