The City of Wadsworth will host the grand opening and ribbon-cutting for the new Destination Park in Memorial Park on Saturday, September 21 at 10 a.m. This event will also recognize the new pickleball and tennis courts.
Destination Park is the new park that will be taking the place of the well-known Kaleidoscope playground. Destination Park is only a temporary name until the community votes on the new name.
Wadsworth’s Mayor Robin Laubaugh, city council, and others will be giving speeches about the new features of the park. They will also be updating the community about some of the other projects that will be coming in the future such as a splash pad, zipline, restroom facilities, and more.
“It will be the mayor, Matt Hiscock, the service director and safety director, our council president Dave Willams, members of the council will be there, and I’m sure other members of the city of Administration and the community,” said Jonathan Bellack, The Assistant Service Director of the City of Wadsworth.
Laubaugh wanted this event to be easy to access for the public to get the playground opened to the community soon.
“They just show up,” Laubaugh said. “I would say, the only thing that I would maybe recommend is that they should access the parking off of Grand View.”
While the other projects aren’t open quite yet, the playground of Destination Park will officially open to the public today, September 17, 2024.
