Roberts has taught in Wadsworth City Schools for 12 years. He has served as a grade 5 teacher and principal during his time in the school district.

Christopher Roberts, the current Principal at Valley View Elementary, will be transferring to serve as the Principal at Wadsworth Middle School.

Roberts has been teaching in Wadsworth City Schools for the past 12 years and has a wide range of experience in many different levels of education.

He started his career in 2005 teaching fifth grade at Coventry Local and then moved to a fifth-grade teaching position at the Central Intermediate School, CIS, in Wadsworth where he taught for three years.

In 2012, he occupied the assistant principal role at Highland Middle School until 2016, and since leaving there he has held the title of principal at Valley View for the past nine years.

He built numerous relationships with students, parents, and faculty members throughout those nine years.

“Mr. Roberts has been a great school leader.  In his nine years as principal of Valley View, he has developed relationships with students, families, and staff,” said Joy Love, a second-grade teacher at Valley View Elementary School. “ He supports educational programs and activities with enthusiasm.  He is respectful, responsive, and hard-working.”

Though Roberts is grateful for Valley View and the relationships built over his time there, he was approaching his twelfth year in Wadsworth City School District, his ninth year at Valley View, and decided it was the perfect time for change.

So when the opportunity arose through the current principal of Wadsworth Middle School, WMS, Eric Jackson accepting a new job, he decided to go for it.

He is sad to be leaving Valley View but is excited to return to a middle school setting where he has spent many years of his career.

“I am super excited. I have always felt that that middle school level is my natural habitat if you will,” Roberts said. “That being said, it’s bittersweet. I’m very sad to be leaving Valley View, I’ve made some great connections with families, and the staff has become a second family to me.”

The staff/students of Valley View Elementary are sad to see Roberts go but also happy for this new journey is about to embark on.

“The staff here at Valley View and myself are torn about Mr. Roberts leaving Valley View. We are very excited for his new adventure working as the principal at Wadsworth Middle School however we are disappointed to see him go, said Ashley Heffinger, an intervention specialist at Valley View. “He’s been here since 2016 so this will be a big change for many of us.”

Roberts is not looking to make any initial changes at WMS but instead wants to focus his time on building relationships with the staff and students.

“It takes a team to run a building so it’s really finding out what their needs are and how I can support them and how we can best support the students and families that will be calling Wadsworth Middle School home.”

He will move into the building during the summer and start his new position at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

“It’s a pleasure to be able to continue my career in education in Wadsworth City Schools,” Roberts said.

Andrew Hill, Wadsworth City Schools Superintendent will be recommending Roberts for Wadsworth Middle School Principal on May 13, 2024, during this month’s Board of Education meeting.

Hill will also be recommending Keri Hamsher as his replacement for Valley View Elementary School Principal tonight during the Board meeting.
