This week Wadsworth High School celebrated a spirit week themed around being kind. Be Kind Wadsworth is an organization run by Sara Kopacko, the student wellbeing/mental health coordinator at WHS.

Be Kind Wadsworth was created to promote kindness within the community.

Kopacko wants people to attempt to be kind and take initiative. She wants kindness to happen often and on purpose so that more kids start to naturally be kind to one another and challenge themselves even when it’s hard.

The Be Kind Wadsworth logo around town is used as a reminder for people every day to stop in the rush of life and take time to be intentional and careful with their words. Kopacko says that community members, parents, board members, library staff, and city employees believe that Be Kind Wadsworth is something that should help encourage the community as well as the students of Wadsworth High School.

Kindness is one of those things that while simple, isn’t always easy and is incredibly under-rated,” Kapacko said.

Claire Harig, a junior at Wadsworth High School who is a part of the be kind Wadsworth committee, talked about the importance the committee holds.

“I think it’s really important because our goal is to help and be kind to people who don’t always receive kindness,” Harig said.

Harig says that Be Kind Wadsworth is like a reassurance to the community that everybody is worthy of kindness and love.
