Since “Anyone But You” came out back in December, thousands of people came to theaters grossing the movie to $101 million. Not only has this movie taken over the box office, but it has created new trends and crazes all over social media.

“Anyone But You” brings back the early 2000s Romantic Comedy genre that viewers love. The new TikTok trend of singing or dancing to the song “Unwritten” by Natasha

Bedingfield, has taken over TikTok. The song is played multiple times throughout the film and has brought the popular song from 2004 back.
“The song “Unwritten” is so good,” said Ayla Hoffman, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School. ”The trend shows how good the movie really was”.
Even though some people love the TikTok trend of singing and dancing to “Unwritten,” Laney Ross, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School, was not a big fan.
“I think the trend was really fun to begin with but now it is getting old. People can only talk about a movie so much before it gets old,” Ross said.

The movie directed by Will Gluck, stars Sydney Sweeny, who plays Bea, and Glen Powell, who plays Ben. Both characters can not stand each other. They had only been on one previous date that did not end well but happened to find themselves at a destination wedding in Australia.

“The actors for the characters were perfect and the plot was very engaging,” said Laney Ross, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School.
Throughout the movie, the audience can see the relationship of Bea and Ben develop and see the ups and downs of their relationship.
“It has a perfect blend of romance and comedy that most rom-coms don’t have,” Ross said.
They continue to keep up appearances throughout the movie to seem like a perfect couple only to end up in love and actually becoming the perfect couple. The film had an interesting but familiar plot of other Rom-Coms that came before it. Movies like “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “The Proposal,” and “10 Things I Hate About You,” are movies that have similar plots.
“My favorite thing about the movie was the plot. I just like how they made it romantic but still had comedy in it. It was really fun to watch” Ross said.
Hoffman also found the plot of the movie very engaging and interesting
“I wasn’t bored once throughout the movie. It had a very good storyline and it was easy to follow”
The movie has brought back a well-known genre that the new generations can enjoy.
“I think the movie was worth the hype,” Hoffman said.
