The Wadsworth High School Varsity Girls’ Bowling team has been crowned Suburban League Champions, with an overall score of 13-0 and a score of 11-0 for the season.
“I think the season is going really well,” Wadsworth High School senior and Bowling team member Morgan Shaeffer said. “We just won the Suburban League Championship for the second year in a row and that is exciting.”
The team has one more match of the season against Copley on Feb. 10, 2026. After the match, they will head to Sectionals on Feb. 15, 2026.
“I think the season has been very successful so far,” said Heidi Steele, Wadsworth Girls’ Bowling Coach. “I did not know what to expect given we lost a couple of key seniors from last year, but it is going very well.”
This season, the team set a new record for a five-person single game with a score of 1003. A new match pin record was also set with a score of 2337.
“The girls breaking a couple of school records was probably the standout moment [of the season] for me,” Steele said.
The team went to the State Championship last year, placing 12th out of 16 teams, with a total score of 3387.
“My goal this season has been to get back to the State Championship as a team and improve on our finish from last year,” Steele said. “I really think that is a very achievable goal for us.”
The State Championship will be held at the end of February.
