“Wicked: For Good” was released in theaters on Nov. 21, 2025, and it is just as good as the first film in the “Wicked” franchise. They are both good in their own right, but are also very good when in comparison.
The film stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and was directed by Jon M. Chu.
The film takes place after a time jump from the ending of the first movie. This film follows the witches of Oz as they deal with the more mature aspects of their new lives. The story also begins to converge with the storyline of “The Wizard of Oz.”
Ariana Grande’s perfect performance in the first film carried over flawlessly, with her acting even better than the previous movie. Her microexpressions and demeanor make the film perfect.
“As Long As You’re Mine” is the best musical performance in the film. Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey match each other so well, and their chemistry on screen is perfect.
“My favorite part of ‘Wicked: For Good’ was when Cynthia Erivo sang ‘No Good Deed because, as Elphaba, she expressed so much pent-up anger and frustration,” said Sydney Greenlees, Wadsworth High School senior and “Wicked” fan. “I feel like Cynthia was able to express that really well and it made it all the much better.”
The costumes in the film are some of the most intricate and best made in recent years. Paul Tazewell’s designs and dedication to his craft are impeccable, and truly shine through in the film.
“‘Wonderful’ is my personal favorite song in the movie,” said Ava Porchowsky, Wadsworth High School junior and “Wicked” fan. “I love the beat behind the song.”
Overall, the movie is outstanding. The acting, music, cinematography, costumes and sets all culminate into a great film that is highly worth watching.
