Blake Frantz has committed to continue wrestling in college at a Division 1 school, Mercyhurst. Blake has wrestled for Wadsworth for three years during his high school career. He is a three-time state qualifier and has placed fourth at the state tournament. He is also a Grappler Fall Classic All-American. Blake is now a senior in high school with his final season just beginning.
Blake Frantz had originally committed to Wheeling University. Wheeling University is a Division 2 school in West Virginia, where Wadsworth has sent many graduates. Frantz had decided to decommit and reopen his recruitment after giving it considerable thought and realizing that he might be better off attending elsewhere.
“I wanted to open up my options and check out some other schools because at the end of the day, it’s not all about wrestling, it’s about the academics and how the school will set you up post-college,” Frantz said.
Frantz had also been considering other schools, such as Ashland, Mount Union, and Frostburg State, but ultimately chose Mercyhurst due to the financial package offered to him by the coach.
“I just looked at other schools and how financial stuff would be and compared, and then ultimately chose this one,” Frantz said.

Dom Leguillon is a Junior at Wadsworth High School and a member of the Wrestling team. Leguillon has been wrestling for the first two years in high school and looks to continue this season.
“Blake is as hardworking as they come; he never stops working, no matter the setbacks, and he never gives up,” Leguillon said.
Ryan Schlauch, a Senior at Wadsworth High School and a member of the wrestling team. He has been a part of the team all throughout his high school career.
“He is determined to always get better every day. He’s at every practice we have, whether it’s mandatory or not,” Schaluch said. “ His work ethic is unmatchable, just last night he was in the ER and today he was back at practice ready to go.”
Frantz is regarded as one of the hardest-working individuals on the wrestling team. Frantz is about to enter his final season at Wadsworth, after which he will then go on to attend Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania.
