Game of Tiaras Premieres this Weekend Only

BY LUKE HOUSER

The Game of Tiaras play premiered on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Wadsworth High School’s Performing Arts Center and will be shown again on Friday and Saturday. The play will be about 1 hour and 45 minutes long, and there will be an intermission to separate the first and second part.

“It’s kind of like Game of Thrones with some comedy and some Shakespeare and Disney princesses,” said Debbie Lake, who co-directed the play. “[It’s] kind of a mishmash.”

When asked about directing a comedy rather than a traditional play, Lake stated that it was fun because of the light-hearted nature of the play.

“We had auditions in February and we started working right after we cast the show, so we’ve been working on it for a couple months,” Lake said.

Having been practicing over the last few months, Lake states that the performers have become closer since the auditions.

“They really bonded,” Lake said. “It’s really kind of funny because we have some of the characters who are [acting as] couples, so there’s that bonding between each one.”

Many of the student actors expressed their love for being on stage.

“I am most excited to be on stage with all my friends again,” said Ada Wagner, Junior, who is playing Cinderella. “Even though we just did the fall show, I miss it and I really like performing and being on stage in front of people.”

Lake states that the play is full of comical and unexpected events; she also warned there is a lot of blood involved in the play.

“If you like Game of Thrones or Disney or Shakespeare, this is the show for you because it is a combination of all three,” Wagner said. “It has the bloodlines of Game of Thrones, the cutesiness of the princesses and a little bit of Shakespeare.”
