Boys basketball looks to win big as season continues

BY SYDNEY DAILY

With a record of 6-4, Wadsworth’s Varsity Boys Basketball team has had a strong start to their season. Their first two games were played at home and both resulted in a win.

The first of these two games was against Firestone HS and the final score was 72-35. The second was against Brunswick HS, with the final being 65-61.

Playing away at Perry HS, the team pulled out a win of 73-50. Their first loss came in their fourth game of the season against Brecksville. They played Nordonia on December 17 and won 44-37.

They played three games over winter break; one against Amherst Steele HS at home which resulted in a win, and the other two away versus Heath and Thomas Worthington. Unfortunately both of those games resulted in a loss.

The players feel confident about the start to their season and are hopeful for the remainder of the season.

They played Stow-Munroe Falls HS Monday night that resulted in a close loss of 72-75. They played Hudson HS this past Saturday as a make-up game from earlier this season. That game resulted in a 71- 53 win for the Grizzlies.

“The season is going pretty well so far, we’re 6-4 and playing as a team,” said Solomon Callaghan, junior and varsity starter for the team. “The season is full of ups and downs, but we’re still focused on winning the league and competing in the tournament.”

The Grizzlies will play their next game tomorrow, Tuesday January 11, at North Royalton, and their next home game on January 18 against Massillion Washington High School.
