OPINION BY JULIE WELLERT

“New Year, New Me”, a phrase brought back every New Year that is usually joked about by the general population. But New Year’s Resolutions are not something to be laughed at. Honestly, they should be looked at with more positivity rather than some internet joke.

Resolutions for the New Year are something to take seriously. For some, using resolutions as a fresh start can be helpful, because it gives a basis to start ones goals.

“I think New Year’s Resolutions are good,” said Kayla Roush, 11. “They allow people to work on goals and improve themselves for the better.”

New Year’s Resolutions are a good opportunity for people to get a good jump start on the new year. Though goals can be set at any time, the beginning of the year provides an excuse for people to get started on them, instead of procrastinating.

A common problem with resolutions though is that people don’t actually go through with them.

“If you have a New Years Resolution, you need to stick to it,” Roush said.

In order to complete resolutions, it is important for people to follow through with them. Not doing so is the reason they get joked about so often.

New Year’s Resolutions are a good thing, and can give people motivations for the year, and little things to work towards and even things to look forward to.

People should be more vigilant with their resolutions, and put more of their heart into them.

New Year’s Resolutions are a positive thing, and shouldn’t be completely joked about and forgotten. People could use these for motivation, and to get them through the year.
