The fall season is everywhere, even in our drinks! The Bruin was excited to rate some seasonal fall drinks from various local establishments, with prices ranging from $3 to $6. Here’s what we thought.
King Street Cafe
At King Street Cafe in downtown Wadsworth, we got the iconic pumpkin spice hot latte in the medium size, and the iced pumpkin cream cold brew in a small size. The total for both drinks was $9.87.
The iced cold brew is a beautifully layered drink with pumpkin cream on top. The cream flavor was great, giving you that perfect pumpkin taste. While the coffee was good, its topping had a hint of Play-Doh or pure pumpkin, giving it a strange aftertaste. This drink was a roller coaster of flavors, so it gets an 8/10.
On the other hand, the hot pumpkin spice latte gets a 10/10. Drinking this makes the cold fall breeze feel more comforting. It has a pumpkin spice taste and is perfectly sweet.
Chloe Camber works at King Street Cafe and says the pumpkin chai is her favorite and would rate it a 10/10. “The pumpkin cream cold brew is really good. I also really like the salted caramel latte.”
Valley Cafe
Next, we tried Valley Cafe’s iced pumpkin spiced coffee. Valley Cafe has been around since 2008 and is a very well-known spot in downtown Wadsworth. Valley Cafe always has fun drinks that correlate with the season, such as their iced pumpkin spiced coffee. It was released on Oct. 1. It costs $3.99, but you can substitute different milks which cost $.50 extra, which is not a part of the original price.
The coffee’s pumpkin flavor is very mild, and the ice dilutes the flavor even more. It’s not a very sweet coffee, even with the caramel drizzle mixed in. We rate this one a 4/10.
Anna Bean Coffee Company
Anna Bean Coffee Company is located in Barberton and is very festive for Halloween. It used to be a train station, so there is train decor all over. The inside is Halloween-themed, and there is also a drive-thru.
The cookie butter latte tastes great and costs around $5.50 for a small, giving it a 9/10. The flavor is a combination of sweet sugar cookies and browned butter, which is very seasonal. The drink was topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. It was very sweet, but it works for this drink.
Anna Bean also has a pumpkin spice latte, which gets an 8/10. While the coffee was a great blend of pumpkin spice, it could use some pumpkin spice powder on the top. The drink wasn’t very sweet and could definitely use a little more pumpkin flavor.
Kavé Coffee Bar
Lastly, we tried Kavé Coffee Bar in Barberton. The atmosphere is great, with lots of decorations for the season, and a good place to sit and work. There were pastries, ice cream, teas and coffees.
They have lots of seasonal drinks, including a maple brown sugar latte. The latte was a lot more prominent than the other places with a minimal maple flavor. It’s a nice drink for someone who doesn’t like sweetness, but the name is misleading, making it a 6/10.
Pumpkin spice is a classic flavor of the season, but there are other autumnal flavors that are just as good like the cookie butter latte or a chider. These delicious drinks are bringing the season to a beautiful beginning.
