Great weekend to be a Grizzly

This past weekend, many Grizzlies achieved great things in their respective sports. Wrestling, basketball, and bowling all had great weekends in their post season games.

Wrestling sent nine varsity wrestlers to states and they all did well. Jordan Earnest, 12, won the state title at heavy weight. Luke Baughman, 11, became the state runner up at 138 lbs. Several other wrestlers placed top 5 in the state of Ohio with great honor. The wrestling team placed 3rd out of 70 teams in the OHSAA State tournament.

Girls basketball played Strongsville in the hard fought Regional Finals game in Norwalk and won 39-27 to now advance to the Division 1 State Tournament in Columbus. This is the lady Grizzlies second time to states in the last 3 seasons and they hope to bring home the state title. They will face Solon on Friday, March 16th for the State Semifinals game at 6 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH.

Boys bowling finished 8th out of 16 teams to advance into the OHSAA state championship bracket. They then proceeded to defeat #1 seed Cincinnati Oak Hills 3 games to 2 to advance into the semifinal round vs. Celina. They lost 3 games to 2 to Celina putting an end to their great season. They will have a banner hung up for their successful run in the playoffs.

All in all, Grizzlies athletics achieved many great things this past weekend. All of Wadsworth wishes luck to the girls basketball team who will travel to Columbus in hopes of bringing home the state championship to Wadsworth.
