5 movies to watch while social distancing

5+movies+to+watch+while+social+distancing

REVIEW BY HAYLEE JOY

Being in quarantine, everyone has been spending plenty of time watching TV shows and movies. With boredom taking over, many people have been bingeing a lot of their favorites. There are many trending movies out there right now, but these five are my absolute favorites.

Good Will Hunting (1998)

Good Will Hunting is a classic. Will Hunting is a qualified genius, but he decides to be a janitor at MIT. There was a graduate-level math problem to be solved by anyone in a hallway, which he did. From that point on, Professor Lambeau decided to do anything it would take to make Will use his talents for the better. Being a troubled kid who had been arrested, Will agreed to talk to a therapist, Sean Maguire. These bonds end up becoming extremely important to Will Hunting and lead him to make new life decisions.

This movie is top tier because it addresses topics that a lot of people generally internalize. It expresses plenty of different emotions such as love, fear, heartbreak, hope, and so much more.

Some of the stars in this movie are Matt Damon, Robin Williams, and  Ben Afflack. It was released in 1997. This film also set off Matt Damon and Ben Affleck´s careers.

Interstellar (2014)

Interstellar is a fascinating science-fiction film. This movie takes place in Earth’s future, and specific circumstances are starting to show that our planet will soon become uninhabitable. Professor Brand, a NASA physicist, tries to come up with a plan to save the human race. He sends Cooper, a former NASA pilot, and the rest of his team, across the galaxy in search of habitable land. It is said to be up to Coop to find mankind a new home, but his daughter, Murphy, turns out to be very vital to the situation.

This movie is always a win, especially for the science nerds. The plot of the film is brilliant. It focuses on the future of our planet and gets your mind turning. The content of the movie is mind blowing. All three hours of the movie are full of intense scenes and it is extremely thought provoking. A lot of people like to think about the unknown, and this movie provides the perfect opportunity to do so.

Interstellar was released in 2014. This film wouldn’t be as successful as it is without the actors Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Timothee Chalamet, and Matt Damon.

Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Shawshank Redemption is also up there in the top movies of all time. Andy DuFrense is accused of murdering his wife and her lover, and has to serve two undeserved life terms in prison. While serving his time in jail, Andy learns to adapt, understands how awful prison life really can be, forms a strong friendship with Red, another prisoner, and turns out to be a lot smarter than everyone thinks he is.

You can’t go wrong with this movie because there is an underlying message to get across and it is a powerful film as well. Something taken away from the movie is that when times are rough, shutting down is not the answer. Andy Dufrense learned to work with what he had, and made the most of his time. It teaches life lessons, while building suspense and having an interesting plot.
The stars that make this movie great are Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. It was filmed in 1994, in The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio.

Creed II (2018)

In Creed II, Russian boxer Ivan Drago killed the United States champion Apollo Creed in a 1985 match. Apollo’s son, Adonis, accepts the challenge of Drago’s son. This was against the wishes of Rocky Balboa, his trainer. Between balancing their personal lives and boxing, both men train as hard as they can. This is more than just a fight, and the whole world will be there to watch.

Michael B. Jordan makes this movie even more sensational, along with the legendary Sylvestor Stallone, Tessa Thompson, and more. This is the sequel to Creed.

Black Panther (2018)

Among all of the successful Avengers movies, Black Panther is definitely up there with the best. In the film, T’Challa goes back to his home, Wakanda, after his father passed away. When he returns, he becomes the new king. Along with that, he becomes Black Panther as well. Shortly after, an enemy shows up and challenges the new king to take his position. This conflict puts the fate of Wakanda at risk. T’Challa has to gather his allies and use the power of Black Panther to defeat this challenge and save the people of Wakanda. This action packed film is unique and intriguing. There is a surprising depth that leaves room for a sequel that everyone would love to see.

The cast of Black Panther is lively and astonishing as Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan made it great. Among a lot of other Avengers movies, this won many awards.

While people are finding things to do during this unfortunate time, these movies are a great way to spend it. You can’t go wrong with any of these films.
