Yearbook staff continue to work on yearbook from home

BY KAYLA TAVANELLO

With the final quarter of the school year being online for students, a majority of spring activities were cancelled. Thus meaning that Yearbook had numbers of empty pages to fill, but current Yearbook Editor-in-Chief Kate Messam did not let this deter her.

“At first we didn’t really know where to start because we transitioned from the school computers to Chromebooks which was difficult,” said Messam. “But once we became motivated, the entire thing fell into place pretty smoothly.”

Yearbooks editing deadline was pushed back until July 1st, which allows for the Seniors to have a page dedicated to Prom and graduation.  With the loss of pages usually dedicated to other spring events and sports, the yearbook staff was able to make up for it by adding both dedications to seniors who were not able to participate in their respective sports, as well as a look into students’ quarantine activities.

“I would say the length of this year’s yearbook is about the same as in the years before, we were able to replace the original pages with one’s pertaining to Corona and e-learning,” said Messam.

As an attempt to compensate for all the losses that the senior class has been through this year, more pages than in years past will be strictly for recognizing senior class.

“The process was a little challenging because a lot of senior related events got cancelled such as senior nights, prom, graduation, and more,” said Mara Budd, a member of the Whisperer staff. “We tried to highlight them as much as we could with the senior parade, and highlighted them in their sports using quotes.  Even though it was hard, I think we did a pretty good job highlighting them.”

Messam acknowledged that as of now, all yearbook pages are completed, with just a few minor edits to be made for the final product.
