Movies Premiering In The Summer Of 2024

As the summer is nearing, new films are being marketed and broadcasted for their release this summer. Many students are free during the summer, giving them many opportunities to see what films the summer has to offer.

Premiering on July 19 is “Twisters,” the sequel to the 1996 film “Twister.” The movie follows storm chasers as they chase wild tornadoes and try to control the tornado but it goes horribly wrong and they are left to deal with the consequences. The film is directed by Lee Isaac Chung and the star actors are Glen Powell and Daisy-Edgar Jones.

Coming out on July 26 is “Deadpool and Wolverine.” The movie is the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, as he originally played Wolverine in the 2017 movie “Logan.” After many requests by fans and the other star actor Ryan Reynolds, Jackman decided to return to play Wolverine. The movie follows the two superheroes Deadpool and Wolverine as they team up to take down Cassandra Nova, who is one of the villains confirmed to be in this movie.

“The actors in the movie are my favorite actors,” said Hudson Kennell, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School and “Deadpool” fan. “Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are my favorite actors because they are funny.”

On July 3, “Despicable Me 4” is set to release in theaters. The film is about how Gru, the protagonist, deals with his growing family and being a superhero at the same time. As for actors, the main protagonist Gru is voiced by Steve Carell, and the antagonist is voiced by Will Ferrell.

“I am excited for this movie because I never have gone to a ‘Despicable Me’ movie and been disappointed before,” said Brayden Keck, sophomore at Wadsworth High School.

“Inside Out 2” is set to release on June 14. The movie will be a sequel to the first movie which was released in 2015. The animated Pixar film focuses on the main character Riley’s struggles as a teenager and the hardships of growing up. The movie is directed by Kelsey Mann, the character of Joy is voiced by Amy Poehler and Riley is voiced by Kensington Tallman.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” is set to release on June 28. This film is part of the “Quiet Place” series and will be the third installment of the franchise. The film is supposed to be a film showing the beginning of why the people in the film have to be quiet all the time. The film, even though being the third movie in the series, shows events that took place before the first two movies. The movie is directed by Michael Sarnoski and stars Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou, and Alex Wolff.

Students at Wadsworth High School are gearing up for the movies this summer and the anticipation for the movies continues to grow.
