“I want to make somebody smile behind my mask,” said Jane.

After contracting the Coronavirus and spending over a month in quarantine, a Wadsworth resident is back to work on the frontlines. She would like to remain anonymous because she does not want this to affect her employer or family, so she will be referred to as Jane in this article. Her first couple weeks back have been relieving because she missed interacting with people, although going into it Jane was fearful for how people would treat her.

“I was afraid to be ‘that’ person that everyone was going to look at,” said Jane.

Her first week back to work she was really nervous to go back because she was not sure how she would be treated considering most of her co-workers knew she had been diagnosed at this point. Most people greeted her with a warm welcome which helped her to make it through her long work days. Her only concern after being back lies under the fact that not all of her customers wear masks.

“It’s going to save someone’s life,” said Jane.

Although Jane is not worried about getting the Coronavirus again, her main concern is that an asymptomatic person could end up giving it to someone in their family or spread it to another place. Coming from a survivor she asks that people continue to wear their masks. She says when she wears her mask it is to protect you, and she wants people to be considerate and wear their masks in order to protect her along with every other worker. The masks may be uncomfortable, but she feels in the long run that it is saving many people’s lives.
