As the school year comes to an end some students look forward to the excitement of prom. Held at the Galaxy, seniors and their dates have the opportunity to have dinner together as well as hours of dancing.

Before Prom, Promenade gave couples the opportunity to be announced and walk on stage together. After all of the couples walked through the gym, the prom king and queen were announced. As many students had hoped, Logan Wiedeman and Abby Winkler won king and queen. After 3 years of dating everyone could see this coming, “I was kind of expecting it because everyone said they were voting for us,” said Logan Wiedeman, 12. “It is cool that I can tell my kids that I won prom king.”

Students were also able to pick their own seats at tables consisting of 10 people, “It was the best dance I’ve been too because I went with someone fun and we got to dance and laugh all night together,” said Holly Rodgers, 12.

Dancing all night is appealing to many students, “The best part about prom was being able to dance hard enough to rip my pants,” said Clay Barker, 12.

Underclassmen Laney Corell said, “Prom was super fun, the music was really good and the D.J. kept people dancing through most of the night which made it more enjoyable for everyone.”

Following prom which ends at 10:30, students can attend post prom. Starting at 11:30 and going until 3:30. This year’s theme was to infinity and beyond, playing towards the idea of Toy Story themed games and foods. Including Pizza Planet, Big Jenga, Life sized green army men, Mr. Potato head and many other Disney Icons.

The parents who organized Post Prom had the Middle School packed with activities to keep students busy such as life size hungry hippo, bouncy house obstacles and slides, corn hole, henna tattoos, and Fun balls. Fun balls were the highlight of the night for many students “I didn’t even get to play with the fun balls but I still know it was the best thing there, it looked so fun,” said Luke Baughman, 12.

This game consisted of ten students, all who got inside of a big bouncy ball and then ran towards each other. “For me, post prom was really fun because of the hamster balls and just overall it had a lot to entertain the students,” said Clay Barker, 12. “It felt very well organized and out together.”  

As well as food and games, gifts were raffled off to seniors who attended post prom, including mini fridges, TV’s, laptops, and other college preparation items.

Prom was a night to remember for many, being busy all night long many of the students had a great time with their classmates one last time.
