Football
The Grizzlies football team started off their season winning all three out of league games, defeating Firestone, Wooster, and, most recently, Medina last Friday. They open up Suburban League play against Nordonia tonight at home.
“It’s a big game because we’re the only two undefeated teams in the Suburban League,” said Alec Miller, 12.
Volleyball
Since dropping their season opener at Strongsville, the Grizzlies volleyball team has rattled off nine straight victories. That includes a 6-0 Suburban League record that has them in first place. They most recently beat Brecksville on the road in four sets and have an Invitational at Jackson High School on Saturday the 15th.
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team beat Cuyahoga Falls on Tuesday 2-1, upping their record to 5-2, including a 2-1 record in league play. They will face Wooster at home on Saturday the 15th for their senior night.
“They have all been really good games so far,” said Kai Wagner, 12.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team is 4-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 on league play, thanks to a recent 3-0 victory over Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday. They now are looking ahead to facing North Royalton on the road next Wednesday, the 18th.
Boys Cross Country
The boys cross country team got 3rd overall at the Bulldog Invitational, where Benji House, 12, place 6th overall and Matt Flaker, 11, got 15th. The team finished 4th at the Suburban League Super Duals, with House finishing 9th. Last weekend, led by House’s 7th place finish and an 11th overall finish by Sam Drown, 12, the team got 5th at the Wooster Invitational. On Sept. 15, they run in the Spartan Invitational at Boardman High School.
Girls Cross Country
The girls cross country team has either won or finished second in every race this season. First, they won the Bulldog Invitational behind a first place finish from Claire Nicholas, 9, and had four of the top six runners, with Rachel Murphy, 9, and Ashley Galek, 10, placing 3rd and 4th, respectively, and Laney Corell, 10, finishing 6th overall. The team then got 2nd at the Suburban League Super Duals, with Nicholas (2nd) and Murphy (10th) both finishing in the top 10. The team then got second in the Wooster Invitational behind three top ten finshes: Galek (7th), Sammie Beddow, 12, (8th), and Corell (9th).
Girls Golf
The girls golf team is 5-3 overall, and upped their league record to 3-2 with a 194-213 victory over Twinsburg on Wednesday. They will face Brecksville on Sept. 17 at Seneca Golf Course.
Boys Golf
The boys golf team lost to Twinsburg 166-179 on Thursday to fall to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the Suburban League. They are looking to bounce back on Sept. 18 when they face Brecksville at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team, after opening league play with four straight victories, has dropped the last two matches to Brecksville and Twinsburg, putting them at 4-2 in the league and 9-4 overall. They look to get back on track when they face Hudson at home on Sept. 17.
