Charlie Puth revealed his fourth studio album, “Whatever’s Clever!” would be released on March 6, 2026, this month, with the release of his newest single, “Changes.” The single was accompanied by a retro-feeling eighties-inspired music video that has gone viral for alluding to fans that Puth’s wife, Brooke Sansone, is pregnant.
A primary focus of the album seems to be Puth’s life and what has changed for him and his wife over the past few years.
“No matter how much you’re missin’ it/ Sometimes the wind blows in different/ New directions and lessons are happenin’,” Puth sings in the newly released single. This song is leaning less towards romantic emotions than Puth’s most popular songs, and more towards figuring out the complexities of adulthood.

“This is the song I wanted you to hear first because it’s a perfect way to bring all of you into the most beautiful, colorful part of my life, which happens to be right now,” Puth wrote in his Instagram post announcing the first single of the album.
The song “Changes” is a very upbeat and dancey beat-driven song, setting the tone for an album that will blend the synthpop sound that is popular right now with Puth’s own style that he has maintained for years. If the rest of the album mirrors this single’s style, the tracks will not have much of a different sound from Puth’s previously released music.
The sound is very similar to some of his other songs, such as “Light Switch” and “There’s A First Time For Everything.” People who enjoyed his past music can most likely expect to enjoy this upcoming album, but anyone who has not been a fan may want to skip this release.
“It’s not my favorite,” said Macey Milano, a junior at Wadsworth High School, “The chorus is good, but I wouldn’t listen to it on my own. It just sounds like a song that would play in a store.”
The tracklist for the album has not been released yet, so many fans are wondering if singles that Puth has released over the past few years, between “Whatever’s Clever!” and his previous album, “Charlie”, which was released in 2022.
“I think that this is a perfect song to be the lead single on his new album,” said Landry Macko, a senior at Wadsworth High School.
