The Grizzlies football team is undefeated, and the offense is putting up an average of 46 points a game. This Offense is led by Sophomore quarterback Brysen Hall.
Hall has played football since he was four years old and has always been a quarterback.
“I’ve always loved having a football in my hands,” Hall said.
Hall has been the starting quarterback for the Grizzly varsity football team since his freshman year and has been improving ever since. Last season, Hall threw for 2,143 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He did this with a 58% completion percentage while leading the Grizzlies to an 11-1 record with two playoff wins against North Royalton and North Ridgeville, eventually falling to the soon-to-be state champion Avon Eagles. Through the first four games this season, Hall has thrown for 978 yards and 12 touchdowns with only one interception. He currently has a 70% completion percentage while also rushing for 20 yards. His completion percentage is not the only thing that Hall has improved on. He also has improved his deep ball, now being able to hit passes at around 55 yards.
“NFL quarterbacks are working on their throwing still, it’s something you always gotta work on still,” Hall said.
The Grizzlies are now 5-0 with a 39-0 win to shut out the Twinsburg Tigers at home. Through five games, the Grizzlies have scored 31 touchdowns, with 16 being on the ground and 15 being through the air.
The Grizzlies Defense has also succeeded, only allowing a total of 28 points the whole season. This means that in any one of the Grizzlies’ games this season, they would have outscored all of their opponents combined.
Hall is not leading the Grizzlies to success on his own. His wide receiver room has statistically performed well and has been spread out among many people.
Air Force Falcon commit Calix Lemp has been Hall’s number one target across all of his games this season. Through five games, Lemp has caught six touchdowns while having 426 yards.
Lemp has not been the only receiver that Hall has been throwing to; three other receivers have caught passes for over 100 yards.
“It’s amazing how many different guys have caught the ball,” Said Justin Todd, the head coach for the Grizzlies varsity football team.
Kyle Schmeltzer, a junior wide receiver, has also been a standout target for Hall. Schmeltzer has caught 11 passes for 121 yards while also rushing for four yards.
Even with all of the Grizzlies’ success, Hall and Todd are keeping the focus on the present.

“We’re a pretty hyper-focused program,” Todd said when asked about the future. “I’m thinking about practice here in 20 minutes as opposed to who we could potentially play down the road.”
Constantly improving has been the main goal of the Grizzlies heading into the latter half of the season.
“We know that in order for us to compete with the best teams in the state that if we stop improving right now, we won’t,” Todd said.
The practice-by-practice basis has seemingly worked well for the Grizzlies as they are now ranked seventh in the state for Division II football.
“The moment you start looking ahead at the event, you lose the process,” Todd said.
Hall’s play this season with the team has earned him two Division I scholarships to play at Miami of Ohio and Toledo.
“I thought it was really smart of Miami to get in early,” Todd said. about Miami of Ohio being the first college to offer Hall. “It’s certainly deserving.”
Wadsworth does not have an easy schedule by any means to finish the season. The undefeated Nordonia Knights of Macedonia are going to be the biggest challenge going forward.
“A goal we have is to win Suburban League,” Hall said about the goals of the season. “In order to do that you have to be the most violent team.”
