The Fine Arts Festival is a festival to celebrate art accomplishments that the students in Wadsworth Schools make, in both traditional art and 3D art.

The festival also contains award ceremonies and performances from the elementary and middle school students. This year’s festival was held on May 2 and 3 at the Wadsworth Middle School. AP art students were able to have a large stand for their art, which contains a wide range of their art that they decided to showcase.
Emma Sega is a senior at Wadsworth High School and took AP art classes, having several of her pieces displayed at the art festival. Sega said that it was amazing to have her art featured for lots of people to see.
“I’ve never really thought about it, [but] it was really awesome to have and be able to showcase all of my stuff to my family who supports me every day,” Sega said. “It’s cool to have a showcase of my skill set on display for so many people to come in and appreciate and enjoy.”
Sega’s art display contained both 2D and 3D art, with media ranging from paint, graphite, clay and colored pencils. Sega said that she loves to doodle during class time, then goes more in-depth with her art during her AP art class.
“I always doodle on my own time, but realistic [art], that’s more in class,” Sega said. “I started Freshman year, and I kept doing a rinse and repeat thing, where I would do faces in different styles. I’m in the art class around 2 hours a day because I don’t have much else to do.”
Many of her family and friends also love her art, and they enjoy seeing the finished product after hours of work.
Dave Derrig is an AP art teacher at Wadsworth High School, and he is very proud of how his classes have grown in skill.
“This year’s AP art class was probably the strongest we have had at Wadsworth,” Derrig said. “The students worked very hard all year and had some great portfolios.”
