To kick off prom night for the Wadsworth High School seniors, many students signed up to participate in the promenade located at the WHS Performing Arts Center, PAC. Promenade is a yearly tradition for seniors and their dates to show off what they are wearing. Promenade occurred at six p.m in the WHS Performing Arts Center, held by the school, for the prom attendees to have the option to show off their dressed up outfits for Prom.

Although prom began at 7 p.m. in the Galaxy restaurant’s banquet hall, an hour before prom, the promenade happened at Wadsworth High School. Seniors and their prom dates had the ability to sign themselves up to walk for promenade. Family and friends gathered and filled the seats in the PAC as they watched the community’s seniors and dates walk across the stage in their dresses and suits.
“It was a great time to get to see everybody, and a great way for the whole community to be a part of prom,” said Mason Willmott, a sophomore who attended promenade with his date, Abbigale Curren’s. “It was wonderful to see everyone turn-out and look great.”

Some dates even prepared routines that they performed on the stage, like Robert Beatty and his friend Jayson Maas. The two boys struck poses that made the audience laugh for the event. For example, while walking off stage Beatty leaned backwards and shimmied while Maas pointed finger guns. Like Beatty and Maas, a few participants walked across the stage with a friend instead of a date.
“I was really happy with how the promenade was done and I had a great time,” said Neville. “It was really clear that a ton of people put work into the event. It was a great way to start off prom and end off my high school dances.”
At the end of the event, the prom king and queen were announced and were both handed satchels and the prom queen got a crown. Seniors, Stephanie Novak and Kai Close were this year’s king and queen.
