Wadsworth Middle School’s last choir concert was May 6, 2025 in the Wadsworth High School’s PAC. The concert featured seven solos, three songs from the seventh-grade show choir, and five songs from the eighth-grade choir. The ending song of “We’re All in This Together” from the High School Musical movie was staged by both seventh and eighth graders at the end of the performance.
Samantha Quallich, the middle school choir teacher, has been preparing both choirs since Jan., along with auditions from soloists from each choir for months prior to the concert. These soloists were picked based on pitch and memorization, like Mia D’Andrea from the seventh grade show choir and Landon Johnson from the eighth grade show choir. Rehearsals were hosted daily for five days a week, with three class periods for each choir class.
“Eighth grade has definitely improved from their first concert this year,” said Quallich. “They are more confident, not only in their dancing, but especially their vocals. They are well prepared for the HS Choir program. Their dancing especially improved from the beginning weeks of class to May. I look forward to watching them grow in their musicality.”
The seventh grade choir performed songs like “Wipe Out” by the Surfaris and “Sun Roof” while eighth graders sang and danced to “Unsung Hero” and “Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’” from the Disney Channel movie “Teen Beach Movie.”
Anna Hanzie, an eighth grader in the middle school show choir, said that she will miss the music that they did and the people that she met.
“I love the music we had this year, because it was so fun to perform and I met some of my very close friends in show choir this year,” Hanzie said.
