Brian Luck was a student teacher at Wadsworth High School and had been co-teaching classes with Eric Heffinger, an English teacher, Newspaper Advisor, and journalism teacher, since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
Throughout his time at WHS, he helped with Heffinger’s English classes, Newspaper/Yearbook I and The Bruin. Luck was also involved with Pam Csaky and Kalyn Davis while working in WHS’s choir department. He attended college in Wooster, Ohio, and enjoyed helping and teaching Heffinger’s classes.
“I have learned how to reflect on my own teaching better and adjust to when things aren’t working,” Luck said. “I have learned a lot about differentiation for different students and making sure every student is getting what they need to be successful.”
Luck said that he loved being at Wadsworth throughout the year. He had great students and plenty of opportunities to be involved in the community. He learned so much, including adjusting his teaching for his students, ensuring they get the best learning experience possible.
Many students throughout Heffinger’s classes have looked to Luck for help.
“Mr. Luck is so amazing, he is the best student teacher I’ve ever had,” said Addyson Opalka, a sophomore and a student in Heffinger’s class. “He made class so much fun every day.”
Luck’s last day was May 2, 2025. He will work at Hoban High School in the fall of the next school year.
I don’t think students at Wadsworth know how good they really have it,” Luck said. “You have a really strong school system, really great administrators, really great teachers, and a good school community with lots of awesome resources. To the students of Wadsworth High School, I would say, appreciate what you have here because it is really good.”
