The band wraps up an exceptional year for the program

BY JILLIAN CORNACCHIONE

With the end of the school year quickly approaching, the Wadsworth High School band wraps up a tremendously successful year that has left the program with much acclaim. Without doubt, their long nights of practicing and perfecting showed through their remarkable performances.

“All of our long rehearsals and sectionals really paid off this year,” said Danielle Cheff, 11.

Whether it be marching at friday night football games or hyping up the student body at pep assemblies, the band plays an important role in the school. It is the driving force behind what makes WHS so spirited.

Apart from these prominent events, the band also takes part in many other performances. It is an all-year program that requires a huge commitment from its members. Throughout the course of the school year, the band contended in multiple concerts and competitions.

This year, wind ensemble and symphonic band competed at Medina High School against other competitive schools located in the area. Both groups seized first place at the contest.

In addition, during the 2018-2019 school year, the band was given numerous opportunities that allowed them to participate in special events that they had never been a part of in prior years.

During the holiday season, the band traveled to Orlando, Florida where they showcased their talent in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. There, they marched in the citrus bowl parade as well as the New Year’s Eve parade.

“This year was really cool because we got to march in a televised national parade, as well as march in magic kingdom, which is a huge honor.” said Cheff.

These new opportunities and notable performances have brought the band much success this year and display strong artistic talent at WHS.
