The Girls and Boys Bowling Team have made waves in their 2024-2025 seasons. The boys and the girls were successful in winning the Suburban League Championship as well as making it to the State Finals.
“The team has many strengths but one that stands out is how hard they are willing to work,” said George Steele, organizer of both of the Wadsworth Bowling Teams.
Steele grew up in a bowling family, meaning the sport was always a part of his life. This background knowledge allows Steele to be an educated coach for the new and experienced athletes on either of the Bowling Teams.
“I enjoy seeing student-athletes learn the game and also the success that they achieve,” Steele said.
Students are given an opportunity to make new friends, learn something new and make a core memory by being on the bowling team. The bowling team practices multiple times a week in preparation for going up against their opponents.
The team practiced at the bowling alley in which states were held the day before states occurred. Thus, giving the team a chance to polish up their skills before the big day.
“For states, we did well!” said Ashley Valatka, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School and a member of the Wadsworth Girls Bowling Team. “Everyone gave their best effort even if they were having a bad game.”
Valatka became a part of the bowling team through connections with friends who played on the bowling team and knowing some of the bowling team coaches through soccer.
“I hope that we all continue to improve, and have the chance to show our talent at states again next year,” Valatka said.
The bowling team has, overall, had a very successful season for the 2024-2025 school year and it will be exciting to see what they accomplish next.
