Tom Stugmyer is the co-host of the morning show at Wadsworth Community Radio. He has played a major role in the organization since it was formed almost ten years ago.

Wadsworth Community Radio is a local radio station focusing on local news, sports, events, and public figures. They have a morning show, as well as other specialty shows.
Wadsworth Community Radio consists of a team of three other people in addition to Stugmyer.
Tina Heiberg is the other co-host of the morning show and is also the organization’s social media and marketing manager.
The team at the Wadsworth Community Radio also includes Joe Jastrzemski and Judy Powers. Jastrzemski is the news and sports announcer and Powers is the underwriting specialist.
Stugmyer’s role at Wadsworth Community Radio includes hosting the morning show and doing other behind-the-scenes work.
“I do almost all of this stuff in the studio,” Stugmyer said. “I produce all the shows that we do. I run the equipment for the morning show.”
Wadsworth Community Radio’s morning show is aired every weekday morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
On the show, they discuss local news, weather, traffic, and sports. Stugmyer and Heiberg also do on-air interviews with local figures.
Stugmyer believes that what sets Wadsworth Community Radio apart from other news sources is that they solely focus on local news.
“It’s just so much fun all the time talking to people and hearing their stories, whether it’s a new business opening downtown or just something neat that somebody did for somebody,” Stugmyer said.
Stugmyer enjoys interviewing people with ties to the local community.
For example, he had the opportunity to interview Nancy Everhard, a Hollywood actress from Wadsworth, and Mike Foreman, an astronaut who also grew up in Wadsworth.
Through his interviews on Wadsworth Community Radio, Stugmyer has had the opportunity to do things like work with NASA.
The radio station tries to be as involved in the community as possible. During the pandemic, Stugmyer was involved in broadcasting the Wadsworth High School graduation ceremony. This enabled parents to listen remotely as their children walked across the stage.
“That’s one of the things that I think that we can bring to town; it’s things like that; a larger radio station wouldn’t be able to do that,” Stugmyer said.
Wadsworth Community Radio has remained involved in the community since its creation. Heiberg has also been a part of the radio station and has been working with Stugmyer for ten years.

“Every day on-air with Tom is an adventure!” Heiberg said. “His knowledge of and love for all things Wadsworth is incredible.”
The radio station will celebrate its tenth anniversary on June 30.
“Wadsworth Community Radio is a place that invites and unites, connects and cares,” Heiberg said. “You get to hear the true heartbeat of the area on Wadsworth Community Radio, whether it’s local news, interviews, or just cool, offbeat shows that make you feel like you’re part of something bigger.”
