The Off Broadstreet Players are performing “A Wrinkle In Time” from Nov. 14 through Nov. 16. The play will be preformed at Wadsworth High School.
The play was adapted by Morgan Gould, from the book, which was written by Madeleine L’Engle.
The sci-fi play consists of Meg Murry’s struggle with her place in the world.
With her brother’s help, Meg can get a grasp on herself while also finding her absent father.
The play’s main theme is the emotional aspect throughout the story.
The emotions come through during all parts of the story, beginning with Meg, who feels like she doesn’t fit in and who struggles with the absence of her father.
Meg’s brother, Charles, introduces her to three different women, who all help Meg and Charles “wrinkle in time” to find their father.
However, this time travel will come with challenges, with evil trying to stop Meg and Charles from finding their father.
With the threat of losing her father and the evil against them, Meg must fight for who she is and her position in the world.
Brynn Bemiller, a sophomore at Wadsworth High School, plays Meg and her mother in the play.
“They travel to another dimension where Meg and Charles are trying to save their father, [so] I really like [the practices], they can be really fun,” Bemiller said.
Mason Willmott, also a sophomore at Wadsworth High School, is in the ensemble, which means that they are on stage in almost all moments of the play. Like Bemiller, Willmott enjoys the practices.
“We are working with all of our sound technicians and our light technicians, so you can really start to see the whole show come together as a whole,” Willmott said. “It’s a fluid environment; we need to understand what we need to work on and what we are excelling in.”
Willmott not only values the practices in the show but also the crew working together on the play.
“It’s going to be a fun show, it’s going to be a little bit longer [than the usual length of the plays] and there may be some parts you may not understand,” Wilmott said. “But, in the end, it will all come together. Looking at it, I think our cast, our directors and our crew, overall, we can make it a great play.”
Willmott also mentions that he is most excited to see how the audience will feel about the play, and thinks the majority of the audience will have a positive reaction.
