Wadsworth High School’s Boys Cross Country team has been practicing since August 1, 2024, and some boys optionally practiced with the team during the summer to prepare for their races. “The actual season started a little bit before school did but we had practice all summer,” said Ryan Poling, senior at Wadsworth High School.
The team has run five races so far this season. There are three more races where everyone will run while there are six more races that they will have the top runners compete in.
“The guy’s team is doing pretty decent and our top nine are all in the same time range,” Poling said.
The team varies their exercises each day to ensure they have the best technique and the growth of the runners’ skills.
“Depending on the day it just depends on the workout we are doing with them and what kind of recovery run they might be doing those days,” said Nathan Colwell, Boy’s Cross Country Head Coach.
As in past years, this season, the boys are working hard and focusing on their strengths.
“The guys have been running really well, week in and week out there,” Colwell said. “They’ve been putting in the work.”
The team is normally competitive and they strive to continue this spirit throughout the season.
“I think we need to be more aggressive during the end of the season to reach our goals,” Poling said.
Their season will end on November 5, 2024, after a total of 11 races.
“The season is gonna end with our top seven hopefully to districts,” Poling said.
