The two Suburban League rivals Wadsworth and Medina go head to head in a much-anticipated matchup this Friday. Wadsworth is coming into the game ranked 44th in the state and Medina is ranked 68th. Statistically, this will be the Grizzlies’ most challenging game thus far.
The undefeated Grizzlies are coming off two road victories in Barberton and New Albany putting them at 2-0. Medina, however, is 1-1 on the season with a win in week one when visiting Stow-Munroe Falls and winning 42-14. Week two was different for Medina as they went to Olentangy and lost 38-15. Although this may look like Wadsworth has a significant advantage, this may not be the case. Olentangy is ranked 15th in the state which is a far stronger opponent than anyone The Grizzlies have faced. This makes this matchup a lot more equal when a person takes a deeper look into it.
However, the confidence of the players is undying. Brad Watson (11), a linebacker for the Grizzlies, is looking at it as just another game.
“Every week is challenging,” Watson said.“We’ll know after if they are.”
Unlike last year, The Grizzlies are playing with the home-field advantage. The theme for the game will be “America” and with this being the Grizzlies’ first home game the stadium is bound to be full.
Will Wert, a defensive lineman for the Grizzlies, believes The Grizzlies have the advantages going into the game.
“I’m not worried about it,” Wert said. “We have the players.”
The long-awaited matchup between the two rivals is finally here.
