The Wadsworth High School football team defeated New Albany 42-21 last Friday night in a highly competitive game. Wadsworth traveled two hours away to New Albany for the competition. The game was close until the 3rd quarter.
Brysen Hall, Wadsworth High School freshman, played 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter as a Quarterback.
“Our team did overall well,” Hall said. “We had some big plays I got to be a part of.”
Against the New Albany Eagles, the Grizzlies offense was firing on all cylinders. Hall went 9/22 throwing 1 touchdown on 234 yards passing.
Wide Receivers Luke Maddox (11), Jack McNeill (11), and Calix Lemp (11) caught the majority of the passes amounting to the trio having a combined total of 220 receiving yards with Lemp snagging the lone passing touchdown on a 45-yard play.
The Grizzlies’ ground game was also productive as Gavin Madigan (11) and Cooper Gray (11) rumbled for a combined 234 yards on the ground. They did this on a combined 32 carries.
“I thought the game went very well,” said Boden Ballinger, a linebacker and running back for the Grizzlies. “The first half was a bit slow; however, we made some adjustments and were on fire. I thought our defense was fantastic all game.”
The game remained close through the first half, but Wadsworth’s performance surged in the third quarter. Defensively, Wadsworth maintained a strong performance throughout the game.
The Grizzlies hope to do well this upcoming Friday at their first home game of the season with Medina. With their consecutive wins, the Grizzlies have set a promising tone for the rest of the season.
