Allison Romano has been hired as the grade ten assistant principal at Wadsworth High School. She is one of two new assistant principals hired for the 2024-2025 school year.
Romano has worked at WHS for the past ten years as an intervention specialist, this will be her first year in an administration position.
“I’ve always possibly wanted to go toward being a principal one day,” Romano said. “I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, be in education, even when I was younger. My father has always been a high school principal, growing up I had always seen what he had done and things like that.”
Romano’s favorite part of being an intervention specialist was the variety of students and staff she was able to work with.
“I loved my job as a teacher, loved what I was doing, loved the people I worked with, loved being here at Wadsworth High School,” Romano said.
Due to her love of Wadsworth, she did not want to have to leave Wadsworth in order to have a principal position.
“It was a great opportunity to stay in the school and stay in the district I love so much that I don’t want to leave, so I decided to throw my hat in the ring,” Romano said.
She is most excited about being able to work with the staff and students in a different role.
“Yes, I’m in charge of tenth grade but I will be seeing a lot more kids, I can have a lot more interactions with different kids, and the same thing with staff members,” Romano said. “I’m not limited to working with just the staff members who were on my schedule or committees I was involved with, but I have a whole building now who I can work with and try to benefit Wadsworth High School the best we can.”
As an assistant principal, Romano will be given the chance to work with more students than before.
“We want kids to come into the building and be happy to be here, so however I can help with that, I want staff to come into the building and be happy to be here, and just help the best way I can to do that,” Romano said.
She plans to spend her first year as principal learning about the job and the guidelines that go with it.
“I’m very excited by this upcoming school year and ready to work,” Romano said.
Outside of school, Romano enjoys spending time with her family, she has a two-year-old son and a six-month-old daughter. In addition, she enjoys reading, painting, movies, and working in her garden.
As she makes this transition to administration, Dr. Suber, WHS principal, has expressed his confidence in her
“Mrs. Romano has been a staple of Wadsworth High School for a long time,” Suber said. “As a Wadsworth student, athlete, teacher, coach, and now an assistant principal, she is a lifelong Grizzly who will positively impact the school and the community. She has already demonstrated that she is a hard worker and a quick learner and has been an excellent addition to our administrative staff at the high school.”
