The Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies girls varsity basketball team celebrated senior night on December 30 with a 50-35 win over Revere.
The team celebrated five seniors before the game: Brooke Baughman, Jessie Crookston, Emily Nagel,
Brooke Manfull, and Lyla Wilson. The seniors walked out with their parents as they were announced. The seniors were recognized for all of their accomplishments during their time at Wadsworth High School. After the girls and parents lined up in front of the Wadsworth fans, underclassmen gifted the seniors a gift basket.
“It was really special to get escorted out with my parents while hearing all of my accomplishments be announced to the fans,” Crookston said.
Before fans walked into the gym, they were greeted with the seniors’ players’ boards that were filled with the players’ pictures. Fans were able to write notes to the girls, sharing their favorite memories with them or wishing them good luck with whatever they decide to do in their future.
The gym was decorated with banners red and white balloons and streamers.
“The underclassman and parents did a great job decorating the gym,” Crookston said. “It really made the whole night and game feel special.”
During the game, Wadsworth was able to keep a comfortable lead the whole game, despite all of the fouls the refs did not call in Wadsworth’s favor.
“Revere is a pretty good team and we played hard,” Nagel said. “It got close at times but we pulled through at the end.”
With this win, it pushed the team’s record to 9-2 overall.
