Kathy Zagar has been a Wadsworth High School English teacher for many years. After 24 years of teaching, she is officially retiring.
Zagar teaches AP Literature and Composition, ninth grade Honors English and ninth grade Academic English.
She went to North High School which was where she met Mrs.Weiner, someone who inspired her to become a teacher. Weiner was her drama teacher who helped Zagar strive to attend the Akron University where she went on to get her Bachelors and Masters Degree.
Mrs. Zagar supports Wadsworth in many ways. She has helped direct 18 plays with Mrs. Csaky during her time at Wadsworth High School.
Zagar loves the school spirit of Wadsworth. She also loves that everyone can find something to enjoy at Wadsworth, curriculum based as well as sports.
Her students have come to know her by her love for Romeo and Juliet, as well as her love for poetry. The poetry unit of ninth grade English lets students indulge in the poetry experience with Zagar by making poetry books and having a poetry party at the end of the year. Mrs. Zagar will miss these things the most.
Although she loves it here, she wants to be able to leave and explore other things outside of school.
“I just want to be free to learn new things, and I’m definitely planning on going back to London at some point,” Zagar said.
While in London she wants to visit the Globe Theatre to enjoy the scenic view where most of Shakespeare’s plays were performed.
Although Mrs. Zagar loves teaching, she is looking forward to being able to travel and relax.
