Gabe Tudor, assistant superintendent of Wadsworth City Schools, announced on Wednesday, May 19 that he will be leaving to take on the head superintendent position at Wooster City Schools.

Tudor has been with the district for multiple years. 

“I moved here [Wadsworth] from Florida as a social studies teacher in 2007,” said Tudor. “I became an assistant principal at the high school in 2013.”

After working as an assistant principal for a few years, he moved to Buckeye Local Schools to be the principal of the high school. 

“I did that for three years,” said Tudor. “I loved Wadsworth, my kids were going to school here, and I lived here.” 

After three years at Buckeye, Tudor had the opportunity to come back as the assistant superintendent. 

“This gave me some additional experience and brought me back home,” said Tudor. 

Tudor grew up with a family full of administrators. 

“I kind of always knew that was the way I thought I would go,” said Tudor. “I tried to get a lot of experience as a teacher and as an assistant principal along the way to try and get to my goal of being a superintendent.”

While at Wadsworth, Tudor helped coach tennis and basketball. 

“I’ve enjoyed all the positions I have been in at Wadsworth,” said Tudor.

As an assistant superintendent, Tudor dealt with many different areas.

“I help Dr. Hill wherever he needs it,” said Tudor. “But officially, this office responsibility handles human resources, facilities and school safety.” 

Because his main goal was to be a superintendent, he felt it was right to accept this head position at Wooster City Schools. 

“I have four kids, and we kind of felt that my kids were at an age that if we were going to make the move into me being a superintendent somewhere else, that it would need to happen sooner than later,” said Tudor.

Although he is sad to be leaving, he is very excited about his new position and his new hometown. 

“It is a lot like Wadsworth,” said Tudor. “The community is very supportive and they have great traditions down there. It was great timing.”

Because Dr. Andrew Hill, the current superintendent of Wadsworth City Schools, does not plan on leaving anytime soon, Tudor felt this was an opportunity worth pursuing. 

“I think continuing some of the great things they are doing and building upon it is my main goal and what I am most excited about,” said Tudor. “They do a lot of things well so I want to continue to help and build upon things where I can.”

After living here for ten years, Tudor is sad to leave. 

“I will miss the people the most,” said Tudor. “I have developed a lot of really good relationships with people here.” 

Tudor has made these strong relationships with students, teachers and now colleagues. 

“Wadsworth has amazing people,” said Tudor. “That is going to be the hardest part.”

He talks about how privileged he feels to be in this position. 

“It is great to work with Dr. Hill and to work with the administration team, aids, custodians and bus drivers,” said Tudor. “We just have a great group here.”

Tudor feels very fortunate to have been here for so long. He will be voted in by the Wooster school board on Friday, May 21, 2021. 

Wadsworth City Schools will be interviewing and hiring a new assistant superintendent this summer.
