The Wadsworth CIS (Central Intermediate School) has recently been having meetings discussing the future of the school.

With the building being over 100 years old, many have suggested moving the school to a new location. The school is currently located in the downtown area of Wadsworth, which some argue is another reason to move it. But, others have suggested that the building simply be renovated to meet current standards rather than completely move the school location.

The Committee’s last meeting was on March 31, 2021. It was there where they discussed the top three goals of the meeting. With the first goal being creating a plan for the future, the second goal was to ensure that all the students and staff were being properly served. Their third goal was to preserve and re-purpose the OJ Work Auditorium and relieve the board of education of the property. 

The CIS committe hopes that the new school design can be a “place of pride” that will promote collaboration to help “build a community.” They’d also like the new building to “serve as a visible symbol of community pride.”

“Technology is one of those constantly moving targets- you’re never quite sure what it’s going to look like in three to four years,” said one of the committee members. 

Technology is another thing they’re going to try to focus on with the construction of a new CIS building. Since the current building is so old, it is very limited in its technology. With the construction of a new building, the technology could finally be brought up to current standards.
